147: Goals for 2019

In the first episode of Design Life for 2019, we evaluate our 2018 goals and see what we achieved. We also look ahead and chat about our new goals for 2019, the things that are important to us, what we want to achieve and how we plan to do just that.

key takeaways

The goals you set are entirely up to you. Think about how you want to live your life and what you want to have done when you’ve retired and you’re looking back on your career. Your goals might look completely different to someone else who is also in your field.

Break down your goals. Try out systems like time blocking and quarterly planning to break your goals into bitesize pieces that help you to better understand the steps involved in achieving them. Set a monthly or annual focus, depending on the scope of your goal. Check out episode for more information about how we set our monthly focus.

Categorise your goals. Think deeply about the areas you want to change things in your life. Do you want to stop, start or continue new or old habits. Being intentional about your actions will help you to achieve your goals.

Be ambitious and honest. Setting goals can be challenging. If you feel that 2018 left room for improvement, don’t beat yourself up about it. Assess your achievements honestly and acknowledge that 2019 brings another opportunity to work towards your goals.
