Performance reviews shouldn’t be the only time you talk about your growth and career goals. You should be talking about those topics regularly with your managers. Consider adding a career dedicated one to one chat to your calendar.
If you are a manager, don’t be afraid to ask for feedback. Find out how your input can be made more valuable. Ask your team mates or the people you manage for suggestions about what would make a performance review more valuable for them.
Consistently setting yourself up for success by showing you care about your performance review will stand to you more than only appearing to care when you stand to benefit from a positive review.
